Nathalie Bulle is a sociologist, research director at the CNRS, with the Groupe d’Etude des Méthodes de l’Analyse Sociologique de la Sorbonne (GEMASS) and lecturer at the University of Paris IV-Sorbonne. Her researches are developed in three domains, works in sociology of education related to educational changes, especially in France and in the US, works related to mathematical methods applied to inequality of opportunity analysis and works related to social sciences epistemology, especially regarding human action modeling.

Her interest in the analysis of human thought, in its common or scientific form, is at the core of her works applied to teaching and pedagogy and to the development of ideas and ideologies.

She published several books and numerous articles on these topics: La rationalité des décisions scolaires. Analyse comparée de l’évolution des systèmes d’enseignement secondaire français et américain au cours du xxe siècle (PUF 1999), Sociologie et éducation (PUF 2000, trad. Sociology and Education. Issues in Sociology of Education, Peter Lang 2008), Ecole et Société (dir. Avec Raymond Boudon et Mohamed Cherkaoui, PUF 2001), L’école et son double.
